I'M BACK!!!

Wow, ok - it's been quite a while since I've posted anything, so I'm more than excited to say that I'm glad to be back!  Where was I exactly?  I was keeping pace with school and finishing up my semester.  i had an excellent experience teaching a great group of kids as part of a Saturday Art Workshop (SAW).  It was an 8-week program in which students showed up at 9:30am (way earlier than I probably ever got up on a Saturday growing up) to come to an art class (once again, I'm pretty sure I never went to school on my weekend off from school).  Anyways, the short story is that it was not only a great teaching a experience, but a learning experience as well.  We managed to get in 3 major art projects, and my class - along with 6 other classes held an art show to display the culmination of the SAW program.  Below is a snapshot of a corner of the gallery - my class's work is in the corner on the left.

I've been working on some of my own art, though limited due to teaching taking up a lot of time!  I just got an iPad so I've been playing around with some of the art programs on it.  I settled on a program called "Procreate, it's worked for me so far, and I'm impressed with the level of features and ability in this program.  If you're interested, here's a link to their website: Procreate (I should really see about getting paid for advertising stuff!)  I can appreciate the iPad's sensitivity to finger-based gestures, but for a program like this is grabbed a stylus, and I went with the WACOM bamboo stylus, because frankly, their products haven't let me down yet.  Ok, enough talk, below is the first drawing I whipped up on the iPad.

For this work, I had some inspiration from a couple of sources: AVATAR's floating mountains of pandora, the beautiful illustration work from a game called "Machinarium", and a little bit of my own previous work.

I think that's all for now.  I have some other things in the works, and I plan on being more faithful to keeping up with the blog and posting regularly now that I have a little less "homework".  Until next time - keep on keepin' on!
