30-Day Drawing Challenge! Group One

Hey everybody! Guess who got their computer back?! (For those of you unaware, my laptop was having some issues but it's all fixed now) So during the past week I've had to take an impromptu break on the Genesis Coupe project, so I decided to start a 30-Day Drawing Challenge.  I remember having stumbled across a few of these some time ago and created my own hybrid list for 30 days of drawing awesomeness by using some of what I felt were the best ideas from several lists gathered on the internet (along with a few tweaks of my own of course). So, rather than make 30 annoyingly short posts, I've decided to break them up into 6 slightly longer annoying posts! Hurray! Below is the first set:

 1. A self-portrait

 (What an attractive young man)

  2. A monster

(It's what's on the inside that counts)

 3. An inanimate object coming to life

(What a HORRIFYING moment to come to life)

 4. A president as a ninja

 (President Taft as a NINJA-Turtle)

5. A favorite word

(How I imagine it looks when someone says this word)

Genesis Coupe WIP

Hadn't posted in a while so I figured I would keep you all up-to-date on my current project.  I'm doing an illustration of a red 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. You may remember the sketch I did of it some months ago in THIS blog post.  But this time, I'm going all out in a full, more-than-two-hours drawing this time. So here's a couple of WIP shots.

Happy 50th Spider-Man!

(Digital Media)

So this year marks Spidey's 50th birthday. He made his debut in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August of 1962, and followed up in his own series titled "The Amazing Spider-Man" in March of '63.

(I wish comics still only cost 12 cents...)

Spider-Man is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite super-hero.  I'm a big comic-nerd/collector and I've been reading since I can remember.  It's these kind of stories/heroes/fantasy that really inspired me to become and artist.  I would lose myself in these books, sometimes reading the same one over and over and over, just looking at the art. So today I present my Spider-Man tribute art in celebration of his 50th birthday.  Oh and if you get the chance, you should also take a look at my friend Jacob Anderson's Spider-Man art: Here.  That's all for now!

What I'm hoping to find on Mars

(Digital Media)

This is a quick sketch I decided to do from a quote I found, and is also partially inspired by the fact that Carl Sagan apparently left a message for those who would reach Mars (which is pretty cool I think) before he died in 1996.  Anyways here's the quote from Ellen DeGeneres:

"The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren't any space aliens. We can't be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we're not all there is. If so, we're in big trouble."

If there is life out there, I just hope they're friendly.

Tin-Man Scarecrow

(Digital Media)

This one just kind of came out of doodling this guy's face. It eventually just worked itself into this sort of robotic scarecrow - which someone pointed out to me makes it look like the Tin Man and the Scarecrow from the Wizard of OZ all in one.  Just wanted to play around with drawing in a different color than the traditional black ink lines. I'm pretty happy with how it looks, I had a lot of fun with this one.

Brock Samson Sketch

I guess I still have Venture Bros. on my mind - how much longer until the new season begins? Anyways, I have another sketch of the "one-half Swedish, one-quarter Polish, one-quarter Winnebago murder machine." Take a look below.

Brock VS Thor

(Ink, Marker, and Pencil)

After spending a while doing some digital work I wanted to get back into doing some more sketches. So here's just a little something I whipped up.
